Method For Preparing Masking Tape

Apr 10, 2026 Leave a message

The main raw materials for masking tape include masking paper and pressure-sensitive adhesive. During manufacturing, pressure-sensitive adhesive is first coated onto one side of the masking paper, and then release material is coated onto the other side to form a roll of adhesive tape.

The production process of masking tape includes raw material preparation, coating with adhesive using a coating machine, forming master rolls, cutting into tubes, slitting, and packaging. First, the required masking paper and pressure-sensitive adhesive are prepared. Then, the adhesive is applied to the masking paper using a coating machine to form a semi-finished master roll. Next, the master roll is cut into tubes using a tube cutter. Afterward, it is slitting into strips using a slitting machine. Finally, it is packaged and boxed to complete the entire process.

The pressure-sensitive adhesive used in masking tape is mainly made from natural rubber, butyl rubber, tackifiers, and crosslinking agents. Butyl rubber effectively improves the adhesive tape's holding power, while tackifiers and crosslinking agents effectively improve the initial tack and peel strength of the pressure-sensitive adhesive.
